The Office of the President has officially announced the dissolution of memberships for statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils, following the assumption of office by President John Dramani Mahama.

This directive aligns with the provisions of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

A notice issued by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed that all individuals appointed to these boards, commissions, and councils by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or a former Minister of State ceased to hold office as of January 7, 2025—the day of President Mahama’s swearing-in.

The statement assured that the reconstitution of the affected boards, commissions, councils, and statutory corporations will take place in accordance with their respective enabling laws.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this excludes commissions that are independent constitutional creations,” the release clarified.

President Mahama expressed his gratitude to the outgoing board members for their dedication and service to the nation, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Additionally, the notice directed the management of the affected statutory bodies to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any further decisions, pending the reconstitution of their respective boards.
