President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
His appointment follows the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, the outgoing CEO, who stepped down citing personal commitments and aspirations.
Malik Basintale, known for his dynamic presence in Ghanaian politics, is set to officially assume office on Monday, January 27, 2025.
Basintale Expresses Gratitude
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Basintale expressed appreciation to President Mahama for the opportunity, pledging his dedication to the role.
“Thank you, Mr. President, H.E John D. Mahama. We shall not fail you ❤️🙏🏽🇬🇭,” he wrote.
Kofi Baah Agyepong’s Departure
Kofi Baah Agyepong, who served as YEA’s CEO for the past two years, described his tenure as “an honour and a privilege” in his resignation letter to President Mahama. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to addressing youth unemployment in Ghana.
His resignation aligns with a series of leadership changes in state-owned agencies following the December 7 Presidential Election.
