
At the opening ceremony of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD) 2025, held today at the Accra International Conference Centre, Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Nana Gyen Opoku Agyeman, delivered a compelling address emphasizing the urgency of accelerating progress to witness Africa’s rise.
She called upon all Africans to share innovative ideas that promote the continent’s development and prosperity.
The Vice President highlighted the importance of unity, prosperity, and development, urging a collective effort to connect Africa through these pillars. She stated, “We must connect Africa through unity, prosperity, and development across the continent.”
The Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025, organized by the Africa Prosperity Network in collaboration with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, is a three-day event running from January 30 to February 1, 2025, themed “Delivering Africa’s Single Market through Infrastructure: Invest. Connect. Integrate,” the summit has attracted over 3,000 participants from 46 countries, including African heads of state, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, ministers, policymakers, and development partners.
The opening day featured a series of breakfast meetings addressing critical sectors essential to Africa’s economic integration and prosperity goals. These sessions included discussions on scaling businesses through strategic technology investment, bridging infrastructure gaps for SMEs and young entrepreneurs, and international public-private partnerships powering trade for AfCFTA roll-out.
The APD 2025 aims to advance African economic integration by focusing on leveraging infrastructure to build a unified African market of 1.4 billion consumers and fostering innovation to promote integrated economic growth and shared prosperity.
The event will continue with discussions on sustainable energy solutions, digital infrastructure, manufacturing capacity, STEM education, healthcare systems, and sustainable urban development.
The summit will culminate in a High-Level Heads of State and Business Leaders’ Dialogue, featuring a Presidential Roundtable discussion on policy frameworks for private sector participation in building Africa’s single market. The event will conclude with the prestigious Africa Prosperity Champions Awards and Presidential Gala Dinner, honoring individuals and organizations for their distinguished contributions to Africa’s prosperity and integration.
The Vice President’s call to action underscores the collective responsibility of Africans to unite and share ideas that will drive the continent’s development and ensure a prosperous future for all.
