Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has restored the water supply to the Ho municipality after a major disruption caused by the breakdown of all three pumps at the Kpeve Water Abstraction Plant.
In a statement released by Stanley Martey, Chief Manager, PR & Communications, GWL’s technical teams worked tirelessly around the clock to resolve the issue within the 48-hour timeline set by Managing Director Hon. Adam Mutawakilu.
As part of immediate interventions, tanker services were deployed to provide water to essential service institutions, ensuring critical facilities such as hospitals and schools had access to clean water.
GWL has further procured two new pumps, expected to arrive by the end of March, to provide a medium-term solution.
“As part of GWL’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted water supply, two new pumps have been procured and are expected to arrive in the country by the end of March as a medium-term solution”.
The long-term strategy, however, will focus on the expansion of the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant to increase capacity and ensure sustainable water provision for Ho and surrounding communities.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to the government’s ‘Water for All’ vision, assuring the public that measures are in place to bridge the gap between water demand and supply.
“In line with the government’s vision of ‘Water for All’ and the goal of leaving no one behind in access to safe and sustainable water, the strategic long-term measures to address the growing disparity between water demand and supply are already underway, with a key focus on the planned expansion of the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant to enhance capacity and ensure sustainable water provision for the Ho Municipality and surrounding communities”.
