The Civil Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike beginning Thursday, February 20, 2025, in protest against the government’s failure to remove Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
The planned strike is in protest against the continued tenure of Samuel Adom Botchway at the Births and Deaths Registry, despite government assurances that he would be removed from office.
According to CLOGSAG, Mr. Botchway’s participation in the office’s budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, is evidence that he remains in his role, contrary to the government’s earlier commitment.
In a statement signed by Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, the association reaffirmed that the strike will proceed as scheduled unless their concerns are addressed.
