
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has lifted the curfews on Saboba and Bimbilla townships in the Northern Region with immediate effect, following improved security conditions.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the decision was taken on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and reflects the commitment of local leaders and residents to maintaining peace.
“This has been necessitated by the genuine desire of the Chiefs and people of the area to sustain peace in the area as well as the improvement in the security situation in the area,” the statement read.
The government also expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their efforts in maintaining stability.
“Government continues to express its gratitude to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area and urges them to continue to resort to peaceful means in solving their problems.”
