The Chief of Armaahman in the Ga South Municipality, Nii Armaah Kwafio II, has condemned what he describes as a failure of law enforcement to uphold peace and security in the area.

His concerns come in the wake of a violent attack allegedly carried out by landguards from the Ashifra community following a court ruling that went against them.
A long-standing land dispute between the Armaahman and Ashifra communities reached a legal conclusion on February 28, 2024, when the Amasaman High Court, presided over by Justice Alexander Graham, ruled in favor of Armaahman. The court, in Suit No: E1/AHC/962021, legally affirmed the rights of Armaahman over the contested land.
However, rather than accepting the court’s decision, some elders of the Ashifra community allegedly mobilized thugs to unleash violence on Armaahman residents.
Among the victims were Asafoatse Armah and Nii Okoe, who sustained severe injuries during the attack.
Following the assault, Nii Armaah Kwafio II expressed deep disappointment with the handling of security matters by the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arhin. According to the chief, the police have failed to take decisive action to protect the people of Armaahman from these attacks.
He is therefore appealing to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Yohuno to intervene and ensure that the police act impartially in the matter. The chief insists that Ashifra leaders should have sought legal redress if they were dissatisfied with the ruling instead of resorting to violence.
With tensions running high, residents of Armaahman are calling on authorities to restore peace and ensure that those responsible for the attacks face justice.
