NPP directs members to cease public discussions that create disaffection

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has issued a directive to all party members, urging them to refrain from discussing internal matters that could cause unrest and disaffection within the party.

In a statement, he acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress among party faithful following their defeat in the last election.

“Many of us, as party members, have, on several platforms, expressed our anger, disappointment, and frustration. However, we humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time,” he stated.

Citing Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP Constitution, which mandates him to coordinate party activities, he emphasized that all members must immediately stop discussing divisive party issues in the media and other public platforms.

“As an officer of the Party, mandated by the Party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the Party; please note that all Party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing Party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms”.

He also reminded members of Article 3(5), which requires them to promote and defend the good name of the party.

“Let us also be mindful of Article 3(5) of our Party’s Constitution, which, inter alia, enjoins us to promote and defend the good name of the Party”.

He warned that any member who violates this directive will be referred to the party’s disciplinary committees at the national, regional, or constituency level.

“Going forward, the National, Regional, and Constituency Party leadership shall respectively refer any member who violates this directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees of the Party”.
