The Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Justice Srem-Sai, has defended the recent raid on the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, asserting that it was conducted lawfully.

This follows allegations against National Security operatives for raiding Dr. Addison’s residence on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. On the same day, journalist Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah was reportedly arrested and later released.
Additionally, on February 11, 2025, security personnel allegedly searched the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
The Minority caucus in parliament has strongly condemned these incidents, calling them politically motivated.
Speaking to journalists in Accra on Thursday, March 20, Srem-Sai took responsibility for the raid and clarified that it was carried out with proper legal authorization.
“We take responsibility for the search that happened. We want to make it clear that those searches and the mode in which they were done were in accordance with the law. Warrants were procured and used,” he stated.
His comments come amid growing concerns over the conduct of security operations targeting former government officials.
