Cave and Gardens Ghana recalls GRANDS CHATEAUX SANGRIA products over regulatory violations

Cave and Gardens Ghana Limited has announced an immediate recall of its GRANDS CHATEAUX SANGRIA EXTRA FORTE AND FORTE products from the Ghanaian market.

The affected products include 500ML, 250ML, and 120ML PET bottles, 250ML cans, and Tetra Paks, citing regulatory violations under the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851).

In a statement, the company admitted failing to register these products with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), except for the 500ML size, which is also being recalled due to technical concerns.

Additionally, the company acknowledged an oversight in releasing the 250ML size, which may mislead consumers into thinking it is suitable for children.

Further analysis by the FDA revealed that the alcohol content in the products is higher than what is stated on the labels, violating regulatory standards.

Consumers, wholesalers, and retailers have been urged to return the recalled products to their points of purchase or Cave and Gardens Ltd.’s warehouse near the Coca-Cola roundabout on Spintex Road in Accra.

The company has assured full reimbursement for returned items.
