Fraud Prevention Expert and Security Consultant, Richard Kumadoe, has cautioned political appointees to be vigilant about surveillance and eavesdropping in their offices and residences.

According to him, while casual eavesdropping is common, wiretapping and high-level monitoring require legal authorization and strict procedural compliance.
“On the other hand, wiretapping for monitoring, and for critical observatory surveillance would under normal circumstances require statutory approval or permission, and its application must follow strict procedural regimes to avoid lawsuits, searches, and law enforcement invites”, he stated.
He further warned and urged newly elevated officers or political appointees to be cautious of potential security threats from predecessors.
“Newly elevated officers or political appointees must be both watchful and mindful of their new offices or government apartments, if any, before opening up themselves for hostilities and awful activities by predecessors. Big brother and big sister might be monitoring and spying on activities at the frontiers of your life”.
