President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in the newly appointed members of the Armed Forces Council, tasking them with providing policy direction and administrative oversight for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The council plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency of the military, upholding democratic principles, and maintaining accountability to the civilian government.

It also advises the President on national defense matters while overseeing the discipline and welfare of military personnel.

The newly sworn-in members include Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will serve as the Chairperson of the council, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Daniel Addo, Fuseini Iddrisu, and Nancy Dakwa Ampofo.

Their appointment is expected to strengthen the strategic direction of the GAF in safeguarding national security and enhancing military professionalism.
