
The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has hosted a high-level delegation from the National Investment Bank PLC (NIB) for discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration between the bank and Parliament.

The delegation, led by the Managing Director of NIB, Dr. Doliwura Awushi Abdul-Malik Seidu Zakaria, comprised 10 members and sought to explore ways to enhance banking services for Members of Parliament (MPs), parliamentary staff, and the institution as a whole.
Welcoming the delegation, Speaker Bagbin commended NIB for its continuous efforts to improve financial services and affirmed Parliament’s readiness to collaborate with the bank.
He emphasized the importance of a strong partnership, expressing optimism that with competent leadership, NIB would achieve significant growth and play a vital role in Ghana’s financial sector.
Enhancing Banking Services for Parliament
During the discussions, Dr. Zakaria highlighted recent advancements made by NIB to enhance financial services, particularly for MPs and parliamentary staff. He noted the bank’s efforts in improving loan packages, including the enhancement of the Salary Loan and Monitoring and Evaluation Loan.
Additionally, he announced the introduction of specialized investment packages designed specifically for MPs and parliamentary employees.
Dr. Zakaria also outlined NIB’s commitment to delivering exceptional customer service through its exclusive Excel Banking Unit. This unit is tailored to offer personalized and convenient banking solutions to distinguished clients, ensuring an improved banking experience for Parliament and its members.
Call for Government Support in Recapitalization
The NIB Managing Director expressed appreciation to the government for its commitment to recapitalizing the bank. He acknowledged the allocation of GHS2.3 billion for this purpose and appealed for the swift release of the remaining funds as outlined in the national budget.
According to Dr. Zakaria, this financial support is crucial to boosting NIB’s competitiveness and enabling it to make a significant contribution to Ghana’s economy.
Highlighting NIB’s strengths, he pointed out the bank’s extensive nationwide presence, a team of skilled professionals, strong leadership, a customer-centric approach, and its dedication to investing in Ghana’s development.
He assured the Speaker that the bank remains committed to providing top-tier financial solutions to meet the needs of Parliament and the broader Ghanaian community.
