The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga road corridor under President John Mahama’s ambitious $10 billion ‘Big Push‘ infrastructure initiative.

During a working tour of the northern sector, Hon. Agbodza assured the chiefs and people of Sissala that the project is a top priority.
“It’s not just a promise; it’s a social contract. President Mahama will ensure the completion of this road corridor before the end of his tenure,” he stated.
He emphasized that the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga corridor is among the key projects selected under the ‘Mahama Infrastructure Plan, ‘ reflecting the administration’s dedication to fulfilling its commitments to the people of Sissala.
“Despite all other road projects, President Mahama has selected some key projects which he has classified as the ’ Mahama Infrastructure Plan’ and this corridor is part of it. This represents his firm social contract with the people of Sissala,” he reiterated.
Hon. Agbodza encouraged contractors already working on the corridor to expedite their efforts, assuring them that their dedication will be recognized.
“Those contractors who are still on site, keep pushing. You will be the first to be considered for more jobs. We acknowledge that we owe you, and it’s not easy. But keep the faith and continue working as much as you can. We will settle those debts and provide you with more jobs,” he emphasized.
The ‘Big Push’ initiative, introduced by President Mahama, aims to invest $10 billion over four years into critical infrastructure projects across the country, including roads, health, and education sectors.
The initiative is designed to address Ghana’s growing infrastructure challenges and stimulate economic growth.
The Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga road has long been a concern for residents, with calls for its completion to enhance trade, agriculture, and connectivity between the Upper West and Upper East regions.
