
The Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt for armed assailants who fatally shot two police officers on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Poyamirea, near Binduri, in the Upper East Region.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the officers, dressed in plain clothes, were traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri when they were ambushed. The attackers shot the officers and made off with their motorbike.
The identities of the deceased officers are being withheld pending notification of their families, following customary practices.
The Police Administration has expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the regional command, and all personnel affected by this tragic loss.
Authorities have assured the public that every effort is made to apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice.
This incident adds to a series of violent events in the Binduri District, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures in the region.
