Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has cautioned heads of health training institutions to desist from actions aimed at intimidating or unduly influencing the Ministry’s decision-making processes.

Addressing the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI) during a stakeholder engagement on Tuesday, April 16, 2025, the Minister stressed the importance of professionalism, mutual respect, and open communication in resolving concerns within the sector.
“So please, if you want to come to me or any of the offices in the Ministry, please, let’s open our doors to you. And don’t cause any harm before you come here. Whenever you come and discuss with me in the office, nobody will know in the public arena,” Mr. Akandoh stated
He expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend among some institutional heads who resort to public agitation or inciting student protests instead of using proper administrative channels.
“So, those of you who think that if a decision is taken from the ministries, you won’t have the patience and even follow-up, and you incite students to go on demonstration, I will not be intimidated,” he warned.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and collaboration but was clear that any attempts to undermine the Ministry’s authority or escalate tensions unnecessarily would be met with firm resistance.
He urged COHHETI members to foster constructive engagement and avoid actions that could destabilize the sector, calling instead for shared responsibility in addressing challenges within health training institutions.
