Mahama nominates Ebi Bright and 28 others as MMDCEs

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Ebi Bright, the 2024 NDC parliamentary candidate for Tema Central, as the new Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly in the Greater Accra Region.

Her nomination, though significant, has been met with some resistance from sections of the local population, with protests reportedly emerging from parts of the constituency shortly after the announcement.

In a related development, Ludwig Totimeh has also been named as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Tema West Municipality.

The appointments, made in accordance with Article 243 of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) as amended, are pending approval by their respective Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies.

Both nominations mark key steps in the President’s ongoing efforts to strengthen local governance and drive development at the grassroots level.
