The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has lauded the Eastern Regional Police Command at Kyebi for the swift arrest of four suspects linked to the murder of a farmer at Asikesu in the Eastern Region.

In a statement issued by the Association’s President, Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, the group described the arrests as a commendable step that reflects the police’s commitment to justice and public safety.

However, the Association is calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno to go a step further by launching a comprehensive investigation to identify and prosecute the masterminds behind the killing.

“Justice demands accountability for those responsible,” the statement emphasized, urging authorities to ensure the full weight of the law is brought to bear on all involved.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of Ghanaian farmers, the Association said it will continue to work closely with law enforcement to promote safety and security within the agricultural sector.

The group has made two key appeals to the IGP:

  • Conduct a full and thorough investigation into the Asikesu murder
  • Ensure all masterminds are apprehended and prosecuted

“We believe that together, we can build a safer and more just society for farmers and all citizens,” the Association added.
