The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public of heightened security measures ahead of a planned demonstration by the Generational Rights Protection Society (GRPS) set to take place in Accra next week.

The protest is scheduled for two days, Monday, April 28, to Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to midnight each day.

The approved protest route will begin at the Obra Spot, continue along Ring Road Central and Liberation Road, and end at Liberation Square.

In a statement signed by Superintendent INK Yeboah, Staff Officer at the Regional Command, the Police indicated that strategic deployments will be made to manage crowds and ensure smooth vehicular and pedestrian movement.

“To ensure the effective management of persons and vehicles during the exercise, the Police entreat drivers, commuters, and all other road users to follow directions from our officers, who will be on the ground to offer the necessary assistance,” the statement said.

The Police Command also reminded the organizers and demonstrators to comply with the provisions of the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491) and work closely with law enforcement personnel throughout the event.

The Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring public safety and a peaceful demonstration.

“We urge the public to cooperate fully during this period.”
