The United States Embassy in Ghana has disclosed that it issued 25,000 visas to Ghanaian nationals in 2024, out of a total of 61,000 applications received.

This was announced during the Embassy’s Consular Media Day held on Thursday, May 9, 2025, aimed at demystifying the U.S. visa process and encouraging lawful travel practices.
Speaking at the event, Consular General Elliot Fertik reaffirmed America’s openness to Ghanaian travelers who follow the rules.
“We continue to welcome visitors from Ghana who are interested in studying, investing, or doing business in the US. Last year, the US embassy issued 25,000 visas to Ghanaians for work, study, or visit to the US. But with entry to the US, visa applicants or holders must follow our laws,” Mr. Fertik said.
He issued a strong caution to those engaging in visa fraud or intending to overstay in the U.S.
“The US has zero tolerance for illegal immigrants. Those who break the rules will face the law, including visa refusal, or upright ban from entering the US,” he warned.
The Embassy urged prospective travelers to avoid middlemen and rely on official resources to navigate the visa application process, emphasizing transparency, compliance, and legal travel.
