Veteran Ghanaian actor Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, popularly known as Koo Ofori from the long-running TV sitcom Efiewura, has been arrested by the Accra Central Police Command for allegedly defrauding a U.S.-based Ghanaian of $50,000.

The arrest follows a complaint by the California-based victim, who claims he transferred the funds to Koo Ofori under the impression that it was for a legitimate investment venture. However, after receiving the money, the actor reportedly failed to deliver on the agreement and became unreachable.

According to police investigations, the actor ignored several repayment demands and also failed to appear before the Dansoman District Court on April 17, 2025, prompting the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

Koo Ofori was eventually picked up by police, as captured in a widely circulated video shared by Accra-based Atinka TV, which shows him handcuffed and escorted by officers. He is currently in custody.

Although he was scheduled to appear in court on May 9, proceedings were postponed. The case has now been adjourned to Monday, May 12, 2025, with the actor expected to remain in custody until then.
