The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will carry out emergency and scheduled maintenance works in parts of the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions on Thursday, May 15, 2025, as part of efforts to improve power supply reliability.

In a notice issued ahead of the exercise, ECG said the planned maintenance is “essential for enhancing service delivery and ensuring a more reliable power supply” to customers in the affected areas.

In the Greater Accra Region, emergency maintenance will take place between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Areas expected to be affected include Tseaddo, Marie Court Estate, Avenue Junction, New England, and nearby communities.

The Ashanti Region will also see three separate planned maintenance operations. The first, which runs from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, will impact Adankwame, Achiase, Kronum Cement, Nketiah, Asuofua, Offinso, Kokote, Abira, Tetrem, Barekese, and surrounding villages.

Another group of towns—Fawoade, Mamponteng, Ntonso, Asenemaso, Aboaso, Hemang, and others—will experience outages between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. A third maintenance schedule affecting Piase, Deduako, Mim, New Brodakwaw, Beposo, Nyameani, and nearby areas will also run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

While ECG acknowledges the inconvenience these outages may cause, the utility provider said it is a necessary step toward building a more stable electricity supply network. “ECG has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to residents and businesses during this period,” the statement added.

The company is urging residents in the affected areas to take the necessary precautions and prepare adequately for the temporary disruptions.
