The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has urged candidates sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to avoid all forms of examination malpractice and remain confident in their preparation and abilities.

In a statement released ahead of the nationwide exams scheduled for Tuesday, June 11 to Tuesday, June 18, 2025, Speaker Bagbin reminded candidates of the value of integrity and perseverance in their academic journey.

“Dear BECE Candidates, as you commence one of the most important exit assessments of your lives on 11th June 2025, I, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, sends you my warmest wishes of success,” the statement read.

“The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is a watershed moment in your lives, a monumental step towards realizing your dreams and potential for Ghana. And I am not oblivious of how hard you have toiled and labored towards this defining moment. Rest assured that your years of relentless academic pursuit will not be in vain, for hard work is the foundation for sweet success.”

He advised students to remain determined, even in the face of difficulty.

“Even when the examination gets tough, do not despair. Pluck up courage and keep pushing to the very end. Remember that setbacks are but stepping stones on the glorious path to success. Believe in your abilities, the amazing mentorship of your teachers, and the guiding hand of the Almighty God.”

Speaker Bagbin emphasized the importance of academic honesty and self-confidence.

“You alone have the power to make your dreams a reality. So, eschew any form of examination malpractice and depend on your inexhaustible ingenuity and God’s guiding spirit. The taste of victory is sweetest and the applause loudest when you win a race fairly and squarely.”

He noted that the future of the country lies in the hands of today’s students, urging them to take their education seriously.

“Your ability to assume leadership of Ghana in the future depends on how well you acquit yourselves at the BECE. So the Parliament of Ghana will continue supporting your growth and development until you take over the mantle of leadership from us.”

“The glittering crown is in sight. Go and claim the glory. I wish you resounding success in your BECE.”

A total of 603,328 candidates are expected to take part in the 2025 BECE, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females from public and private basic schools nationwide.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured that all logistical arrangements, including the dispatch of examination materials and timetables to centres, have been completed to ensure a smooth and credible exam process.
