The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Stephen Wengam, has been appointed Chairman of the newly constituted Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

The appointment was made by President John Dramani Mahama and formally confirmed at an inauguration ceremony held on June 26, 2025, at the Ministry of the Interior in Accra.

The event was officiated by the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak.

The newly inaugurated council is tasked with providing strategic direction and oversight for the GIS, an institution central to Ghana’s border security, migration management, and broader national development efforts.
