The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has called on the party’s leadership to immediately sanction the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), and the Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye), for what it describes as gross misconduct and anti-party conduct.

In a statement issued on Sunday, September 28, and signed by campaign Spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, Esq., Team Ken said the two regional chairmen’s recent public comments alleging manipulation of the NPP’s electoral register and process to favour a particular candidate ahead of the January 2026 presidential primaries constitute a “grave violation” of the party’s constitution.

“These comments amount to gross misconduct and a grave violation of the Party’s constitution. They not only damage the reputation of the NPP as a democratic institution but also directly threaten the credibility and unity of the upcoming presidential primaries,” the statement stressed.

According to the campaign team, the involvement of Wontumi and Abronye as members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council makes the issue particularly serious, as their words carry significant weight within the party’s decision-making structures.

“It is wholly inadequate for the party leadership to dissociate itself from their reckless utterances simply. It has to be both condemned and sanctioned,” the statement added.

Team Ken further urged the NEC and the National Council to summon the two chairmen before the party’s disciplinary bodies, insisting that swift and decisive action would send a clear signal that no individual, regardless of rank or status, is above the rules of our Party.

Failure to do so, the statement warned, would only fuel public perception of bias and reinforce suspicions of attempts to manipulate the primary process.

Reaffirming its commitment to a free and fair contest, Team Ken assured the grassroots that it had instituted a robust anti-rigging architecture to safeguard the sanctity and integrity of the upcoming primaries.
