Former Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, on Monday, October 6, reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to assist in investigations following a petition filed against him.

The petition, submitted by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, accuses the former Attorney General of alleged misconduct and attempted fabrication of evidence.

Jakpa, who was a key witness in the high-profile ambulance procurement trial involving Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has requested a formal probe into Dame’s conduct during the proceedings.

Speaking to journalists at the CID Headquarters in Accra, Kobby Amoah, a lawyer who accompanied the former Attorney General, said their presence was to ensure due process is followed.

“We are here to support the former Attorney General, Godfred Dame. There is a presumption of innocence, so anyone who has been accused of doing something, unless proven guilty, is still innocent,” he stated.

He added that their team remains confident in Dame’s integrity and the investigative process.

“I think we are all aware why he’s here, about certain allegations that have been made against him flowing from the Ato Forson trial. We are here to support him and to prove his innocence. So far, it’s been good; we are following the regular processes.”
