President John Dramani Mahama has appointed 18 distinguished individuals as Deputy Heads of Mission across Ghana’s diplomatic missions worldwide, in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s foreign relations and international presence.

The appointments were announced in a letter dated September 11, 2025, and signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, and addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

Among the notable appointees are former Chief of Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, who has been assigned as Deputy Head of Mission to Canada, and Mr. Ben Dotsei Malor, a former Presidential Spokesperson during President Mahama’s previous administration, who will serve as Deputy Head of Mission in Washington, D.C.

Other key appointments include Dr. Palmer Appiah-Gyan to the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs. Francisca Patoah Gyarko to the Swiss Federation, Dr. Harry Zevon to the People’s Republic of China, and Mr. Aquinas Quansah to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Additional postings cover both Asia and the Middle East. Mr. Sulemana Ibun Iddrissu will serve in India, Mr. George Harrison in South Korea, Mrs. Jamilatu Amadu in the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Sanni Jajah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Mohammed Ibn Abass in the Arab Republic of Egypt.

In Europe, Mr. Emmanuel Netsey-Afedo has been appointed to the Netherlands, Mrs. Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku to the Italian Republic, Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor to the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Emmanuel Kamban Panyan to the Russian Federation, and Rev. Dr. Isaac Clive Mould to the Kingdom of Denmark.

Also included are Alhaji Mohammed Seidu Issah Abah, who will serve in the Republic of South Africa, and Mr. Francis Thalamus Doe, who has been assigned to Japan.

The letter instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take the necessary steps to facilitate the appointment and deployment process for the newly designated envoys.

“Kindly take the necessary steps to facilitate the appointment process for the persons listed above,” the letter signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama stated.

The latest diplomatic appointments reflect President Mahama’s continued efforts to project Ghana’s leadership and strengthen cooperation with key global partners across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
