The Center for Africa Development and Progress (CADeP) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, describing her as a visionary leader whose legacy transformed women’s empowerment and leadership across Ghana and Africa.

In a statement issued in Accra, CADeP hailed Nana Konadu as more than a public figure, a fearless advocate who turned activism into lasting change. Through the 31st December Women’s Movement, she championed initiatives in education, health, and entrepreneurship that continue to shape gender equality and national development.

The Executive Chairman of CADeP, Mr. Johanes Koku Nyagblordzro, noted that Nana Konadu’s vision of an Africa where women lead, learn, and thrive aligns deeply with the organization’s mission of promoting governance, entrepreneurship, and leadership as drivers of progress.

“Her passing is a great loss to Ghana, to Africa, and to all who believe in the power of education and empowerment,” he stated.

Mr. Nyagblordzro further emphasized that the late former First Lady’s lifelong commitment to civic education, institutional reform, and women’s inclusion in governance reflects the very principles CADeP upholds.

The organization also celebrated her contributions to Ghana’s democratic growth and Africa’s socio-economic transformation, describing her as a symbol of courage, intellect, and justice whose legacy will continue to inspire generations, especially young women, to rise as agents of change.

CADeP extended its heartfelt condolences to the Rawlings family, her children, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fraternity, affirming that her legacy of service and empowerment will continue to live on.

May her soul rest in eternal peace.
