More than 30 businesses and organizations have been honoured at the 2nd Edition of the Northern Ghana Business Merit Awards and Conference held in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.

The prestigious event recognized individuals and institutions for their outstanding contributions to the socio-economic growth and transformation of Northern Ghana, celebrating excellence, innovation, and resilience among entrepreneurs and corporate bodies whose work continues to inspire development and job creation across the region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Northern Regional Minister Ali Adolf John underscored the importance of collective efforts within the business ecosystem to drive regional growth.

“The collective efforts of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, traditional authorities, and business associations are crucial in shaping a thriving business environment,” he said.

He emphasized that under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, the government recognizes the private sector as the engine of growth and foundation of job creation. To that end, initiatives such as the National Apprenticeship Programme have been rolled out to equip the youth with employable skills and empower them to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Mr. Ali Adolf John further noted that his office continues to collaborate with development partners and business associations to create an enabling environment for enterprises to flourish and drive economic transformation across the North.

Also addressing the event, the Vice Chancellor of Tamale Technical University, Professor Bashiru Inoro Ibn Saeed, commended the organizers for spotlighting the role of entrepreneurs and professionals in driving the region’s development agenda.

He remarked that the North is home to a vibrant network of skilled individuals and institutions capable of promoting inclusive growth if given the right support and coordination.

Among the awardees was Savanna Signatures, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) recognized for its outstanding contributions to the socio-economic advancement of the region.

Emefa Ethel Ehla, Head of Programmes at Savanna Signatures, expressed appreciation for the recognition and pledged that the organization would continue to empower vulnerable populations, especially in remote communities, through innovative and impactful development initiatives.

The Northern Ghana Business Merit Awards and Conference continues to serve as a vital platform for promoting entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable business practices across the northern sector of the country.
