Five people have been confirmed dead and four others injured following a fatal road accident at Asikuma Junction in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

According to a post shared on the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) official Facebook page, the Peki Fire Station received a distress call reporting the crash and promptly dispatched a rescue team to the scene.

The team, led by AstnO Fred Aganu and accompanied by the Acting District Fire Officer, ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, responded swiftly to the emergency.

The accident involved a grey Toyota Noah with registration number GX 422-25 and a tipper truck with registration number GT 725-19.

In a statement, the GNFS Volta Regional Public Relations Office, the Service confirmed that out of a total of nine casualties, four victims, including a minor, were rescued and rushed to the Peki Government Hospital by personnel from the National Ambulance Service.

“Unfortunately, the remaining five victims were unresponsive upon arrival and were handed over to the police,” the statement said.

The GNFS commended the swift collaboration between its personnel, the National Ambulance Service, and the police in managing the rescue operation.

Investigations have since been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
