Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has openly declared his support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the most marketed, formidable, and disciplined candidate capable of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the 2028 elections.

Speaking on Off The Lens on Online TimesGH Youtube channel, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah said Dr. Bawumia’s record as former Vice President, coupled with his innovative policy interventions, makes him the natural choice to lead the NPP after eight years in government.

“Well, I support former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia obviously, the most marketed, the most formidable, and the most disciplined candidate that we have now,” he stated.

He argued that no vice president in Ghana’s Fourth Republic has achieved the level of policy success and visibility that Dr. Bawumia has, highlighting key initiatives such as the Gold Purchase Programme, the digital transformation drive, and drone delivery services for medical supplies.

“He has been the most successful vice president before, from the Gold Purchase Program, which even the current administration touts as having saved the cedi, to his work in the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he said.

Touching on the NPP’s 2024 electoral defeat, the former NEIP boss said Dr. Bawumia should not be blamed, stressing that global economic challenges and unpopular tax measures affected the outcome.

“Why do we want to blame the number two man and not even the number one? Even the number one, I won’t support blaming, because we all had roles to play,” he explained.

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah believes Dr. Bawumia has learned from the party’s past mistakes and is now better positioned to deliver reforms that will strengthen internal party structures and national governance.

He revealed that Dr. Bawumia plans to introduce equitable appointment processes, where constituencies will recommend nominees for government roles to ensure fairness.

“He’s going to set up a welfare system to make sure opportunities are shared equitably in the party. Each constituency will recommend people for appointments,” he disclosed.

On Bawumia’s vision for Ghana’s economy, Kofi Ofosu Nkansah highlighted the former Vice President’s flat tax reform, ICT-driven job creation agenda, and a Regional Economic Enclave policy to attract industries and create jobs.

He said the proposed initiatives, including the “Jobs Abroad Program” and “One Million ICT Training Programme,” demonstrate Bawumia’s readiness to leverage technology and innovation to tackle unemployment.

“He has a plan, a clear plan, to create four million jobs through mining interventions, ICT outsourcing, and other programs that will distribute opportunities fairly across all regions,” he emphasized.

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah concluded that Dr. Bawumia remains “the most marketed and trusted candidate on the lips of every Ghanaian,” urging NPP members to rally behind him for continuity and progress.
