Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has donated GH¢100,000 to support the medical treatment of victims injured in the tragic stampede that occurred during the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruitment exercise at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

The incident, which happened on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, claimed six lives and left about 28 others injured after thousands of applicants crowded the venue to undergo screening for enlistment into the Armed Forces.
Mr. Bagbin, who visited the injured victims at the 37 Military Hospital on Thursday, was accompanied by the leadership of Parliament to commiserate with the affected persons and their families.
He explained that the donation was to help ease the financial burden on the victims and to demonstrate Parliament’s solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.
The Speaker also expressed deep concern about the recurring challenges associated with large-scale public recruitment exercises, calling for urgent reforms to make such processes safer and more efficient.
The Ghana Armed Forces has since suspended the recruitment exercise at the El Wak Sports Stadium pending the outcome of investigations into the circumstances that led to the stampede.
