A joint team from the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service has launched simultaneous intelligence-led operations across parts of the Ashanti, Volta, and Ahafo Regions to arrest suspects linked to recent attacks on members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and officials of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The dawn operations, which began on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, are being carried out in Dadwene and Anwona in the Ashanti Region, Ehi in the Volta Region, and Hwediem, Kenyase, Guaso, and Marhani in the Ahafo Region.
According to a joint statement signed by Captain (GN) Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the swoops are targeted and intelligence-led, focusing on individuals believed to have participated in the violent assaults on members of the anti-galamsey team and journalists in recent weeks.
“Any individual or group that attempts to obstruct the operations of any of the security services in their anti-galamsey operations or in the performance of any other lawful duty will face the full force of the law.”
Authorities have assured the public that adequate security measures are in place to protect law-abiding residents in the affected areas.
“The general public is encouraged to remain calm and go about their regular duties without fear or panic,” the statement added.
The Armed Forces and Police also commended civil society groups, the media, and individuals for their strong condemnation of recent attacks on security forces engaged in the anti-galamsey fight, noting that continued public cooperation remains vital to sustaining the operations.
