Efforts to tackle long-standing water challenges in Amenfi Central have gathered fresh momentum as the constituency rolls out the third phase of its major potable water expansion initiative.

The project, spearheaded by the Member of Parliament, Hon. Joana Cudjoe, aims to boost access to safe and reliable water across the district, a critical intervention for homes, schools, and small businesses that have endured years of inconsistent supply.
The latest phase covers 39 communities, including Ohenekrom, Kyeikrom, Kwamang, Manso Amenfi Methodist area, Anyinabrem, Hiawa Prison, Pensanom, Abuom, Supanso, Chichiso Nos. 1 & 2, Agave, Nuamakrom, Bredi, Ampotenkrom, Manso Nkwanta No. 2, Ayigbe, Kyenkyenkwanta, Jerusalem, Bantoma, Dominase, Daboase, Congo, and others.
According to the MP’s office, the expansion is expected to significantly improve water reliability in areas that have spent years battling shortages. The office notes that this phase forms part of what it describes as an integrated constituency development approach, which includes ongoing interventions in education, healthcare, and local economic empowerment.
Community leaders say the rollout has revived hopes of relief from the daily burden of searching for water. Many are now looking toward timelines for full operationalisation, expressing optimism that the project will ease pressure on households and enhance hygiene and wellbeing.
The Amenfi Central Water Project has become one of the district’s most visible social development efforts, with stakeholders anticipating further updates as work progresses.
