NPP introduces digital platform for membership registration

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has announced new guidelines and a digital platform aimed at strengthening the party’s internal membership registration exercise across the country.

Addressing a press conference, Justin Kodua explained that the initiative forms part of the party’s broader efforts to build a reliable membership database and reorganise its grassroots structures ahead of upcoming internal elections.

The NPP has scheduled a nationwide registration exercise from March 1 to March 31, 2026, which is expected to serve as the foundation for its internal electoral processes.

According to him, the party has introduced an online membership registration portal that will enable supporters and members to conveniently register, pay dues, and access temporary digital membership cards.

Online registration and payment system

Justin Kodua indicated that the newly introduced digital platform will allow members to complete several processes remotely before appearing physically at their polling stations to finalise their registration.

He said the system will enable party supporters to register as members, pay their membership dues electronically, and receive temporary digital membership cards pending the issuance of permanent cards after verification.

“The National Secretariat has launched an online membership registration portal to provide members with a convenient platform to register as party members, pay membership dues and access temporary digital membership cards,” he said.

He added that the portal has been designed to accommodate three categories of participants: registered voters, non-registered voters, and party members living abroad.

Dues payment and verification procedures

The General Secretary emphasised that all membership dues must be paid strictly through the party’s digital payment system. He clarified that any dues cards issued at the constituency level will serve only as confirmation of payments that have already been captured on the party’s digital platform.

He further disclosed that constituency treasurers, secretaries and chairpersons will be granted access to the system to verify members’ payment records and authenticate the dues cards presented by members.

“Constituency executives are not permitted to collect dues or any money from party members,” Justin Kodua stressed, adding that the digital payment system will enhance transparency and accountability in the party’s internal administration.

Members can pay their dues through the USSD code **920*270#* or by using the NPP mobile application.

Polling station registration exercise

As part of the exercise, the party will organise a nationwide polling station registration exercise across all 276 constituencies and more than 40,000 polling stations in the country.

The exercise will take place every Saturday and Sunday between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the following dates:

• March 14–15
• March 21–22
• March 28–29

During this period, polling station executives are expected to remain present at their designated locations to facilitate the registration of members.

However, the party indicated that exceptions may be granted in special circumstances such as farming activities or traditional taboo days that may affect participation in certain communities.

Membership verification and eligibility

Justin Kodua explained that although every Ghanaian is eligible to register for party membership through the online portal, the completion of registration and payment of dues alone does not automatically grant a member the right to vote or contest in the party’s internal elections.

He noted that eligibility to vote or contest internal party elections will depend on verification and compliance with the party’s constitution, including enrolment in the official polling station register in accordance with Article 3 of the party’s constitution.
