A/R: 20-year-old fatally stabbed to death over plastic chair dispute

A 20-year-old man, identified as Kwadwo Bright, has been stabbed to death following a fight over a plastic chair at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, after a quarrel between the deceased and a friend, believed to be the attacker, escalated into violence.

Eyewitnesses said the misunderstanding began at a snooker game centre where both young men claimed ownership of the chair. Although the matter was initially resolved, the suspect later confronted Kwadwo and stabbed him in the neck.

Speaking to the media, the victim’s mother, Georgina Yeboah, recounted the heartbreaking moment she rushed to the scene.
“I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state. Although the matter was reportedly settled, the suspect later attacked and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, resulting in his death this morning,” she said.

Kwadwo was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are yet to release an official statement, but investigations are underway to apprehend the suspect.
