Adabraka Gold Robbery: Police arrest three alleged gang leaders

Police have arrested three additional suspects believed to be key figures behind the 2024 robbery of a gold jewellery shop at Adabraka, following months of sustained intelligence-led operations.

The suspects were apprehended on Monday afternoon at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, following what the police describe as careful surveillance. They targeted tactical action aimed at dismantling the criminal network linked to the robbery.

They have been identified by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Unit as Nashiru Abubakari, also known as “Soldier”; Fatao Mohammed, popularly called “Motorway”; and a third suspect known as “50Cent.”

Police sources say the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the case, which involved a violent attack on the jewellery shop and sparked public concern at the time.

Police indicated that the operation is the culmination of a meticulous intelligence gathering, monitoring, and targeted tactical action aimed at dismantling the criminal network responsible for the violent robbery.

Investigations are ongoing as police work to track down other accomplices and recover exhibits linked to the crime.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be processed for court in the coming days.
