ADAM-GH Commends Ghana Police for Seizing Weapons-Laden Bus, Urges Stricter Punishment for Offenders

In a press release issued today, Mr. Azubila Emmanuel Abdul-Salam, the Executive Secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH), expressed commendation for the vigilant efforts of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Ghana Police Force during the festive season. The statement lauded their swift action in apprehending a bus loaded with a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition in Techiman, Bono East Region.

The apprehended bus, originating from Kumasi and en route to Bawku, was found to be carrying a significant arsenal of weapons. Mr. Azubila Emmanuel Abdul-Salam emphasized the crucial role law enforcement plays in preventing the transportation of arms that could potentially fuel tribal conflicts.

ADAM-GH is urging the police and the judiciary to impose stiffer penalties on drivers and vehicle owners who allow their vehicles to be used for such nefarious purposes. The statement highlighted the devastating impact of such activities, citing nearly 900 innocent lives lost in Bawku due to the actions of drivers involved in the illegal transportation of weapons.

“The punishment for such drivers must be deterrent enough to prevent future occurrences,” the statement emphasized, underlining the urgency of addressing the root causes of tribal conflicts and preventing the misuse of vehicles for criminal activities.

The press release also called on the National Security Minister to shift focus towards promoting peace in Bawku, redirecting attention from the use of force in other regions. It urged a more concentrated effort in resolving tribal conflicts and ensuring the safety of citizens.

Furthermore, ADAM-GH urged the police to intensify patrols along the Walewale Nasia stretch, a route vulnerable to criminal attacks. Incidents of assailants targeting road users, particularly those traveling to or from Bawku, were highlighted as areas requiring increased attention and proactive measures.

As the nation grapples with the challenges posed by illegal arms transportation and tribal conflicts, ADAM-GH remains committed to advocating for a secure and peaceful environment, calling for collective efforts to address the underlying issues contributing to such incidents.

ADAM-GH COMMENDS IGP AND GHANA POLICE FOR THEIR VIGILANTES.

Executive secretary of Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana ADAM-GH Mr. Azubila Emmanuel Abdul-Salam have commended IGP and Ghana Police for their vigilantes on the roads in this festive season with regards to a vehicle carrying huge numbers of Weapons and Ammunitions that was arrested in Techiman.

Bus loaded from Kumasi heading towards Bawku was arrested with a Huge number of Weapons and ammunition in Techiman in the Bono East Region.

We are calling on the police and the judiciary to give stiffer punishment to such drivers and their car owners who allow criminals to use their vehicles to supply armunitions for tribal conflicts. So far close to 900 innocent lives have been lost in Bawku due to the activities of such drivers. The punishment for such drivers must be detergent enough to prevent future occurrences.

The national security minister who only knows how to send soldiers and national security to beat and kill innocent people in Garu and its environs must concentrate on bringing peace to Bawku rather than using the national security fighting tribal conflict.
The police should intensify patrols on Walewale Nasia stretch where criminals these days attack road users believed to be coming from Bawku or going to Bawku.
