Agradaa’s prison term slashed: Husband calls it a huge relief

Husband of former fetish priestess-turned-evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, Angel Asiamah, has described himself as overjoyed after the Amasaman High Court reduced his wife’s prison term.

Speaking to journalists at the court forecourt after the ruling, Angel Asiamah expressed a sign of relief at the decision

“I am the happiest man on earth,” Angel Asiamah said in Twi

The court reduced Nana Agradaa’s sentence from 15 years with hard labour to 12 calendar months, ruling that the original punishment was unduly harsh. While her conviction was upheld, the High Court exercised its discretion to lessen the sentence, citing proportionality and fairness.

The revised term takes effect from her conviction date, July 3, 2025, meaning she will now serve a total of one year in prison. The court emphasized that while the offence warranted punishment, the initial sentence exceeded what was reasonable under the circumstances.

Nana Agradaa has remained a controversial figure in Ghana, especially since transitioning from traditional priesthood to evangelism. Her case, which drew widespread attention and legal debate, continues to generate public discussion.

With the High Court’s ruling, her conviction stands, but the shortened custodial sentence offers her a significant reprieve.
