Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited has firmly denied recent allegations made by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu.

Mr. Ablakwa claimed that the property at Number 7, 5th Circular Road, Cantonments, currently occupied by Asaase Broadcasting, was unlawfully acquired from the state.
In response, Asaase Broadcasting issued a strongly worded statement, categorically rejecting these claims as false and misleading.
Asaase Broadcasting clarified that the property in question was originally leased as undeveloped land to Mr. Fosuaba Mensah Banahene on July 18, 2006.
Mr. Banahene subsequently developed the land. The property was later rented to Eurojet before being assigned to Lilly Homes Limited through a deed dated March 4, 2020. Asaase Radio now occupies the building under a tenancy agreement with Lilly Homes Limited.
The company further detailed that Lilly Homes Limited lawfully acquired the property from Mr. Banahene, with the Lands Commission’s consent dated July 15, 2020. Asaase Broadcasting emphasized that the property has been legally held without any encumbrances.
Asaase Broadcasting also addressed claims regarding the property’s prior use, stating that it was never a residence for a judge or any public official.
They noted that the only nearby state bungalow was occupied by a senior civil servant in 2006 and is now the residence of Prof. Ahmed Nuru Zakariah, Chief Executive of the National Ambulance Service. Another nearby property, once occupied by Rev. Canon Ing. William Hutton-Mensah, was divided and sold to private individuals during President John Mahama’s administration.
The company suggested that Mr. Ablakwa’s allegations may be politically motivated, targeting Asaase Radio’s Chairman, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, over a property transaction that occurred more than 18 years ago.
Asaase Broadcasting Company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and vowed to protect its reputation against unfounded accusations. The company also urged Mr. Ablakwa to refrain from making further unsubstantiated claims.
