The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East on Saturday, February 7, saw aspirant Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed make a notable gesture to delegates.

His campaign team distributed 32-inch television sets and free boiled eggs, prompting attention and minor jostling among voters eager to collect the gifts.
The primary seeks to select the NDC candidate for the upcoming by-election, with five aspirants cleared by the party’s vetting committee: Mohammed Ramme, Amina Adam, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Yakubu Azindow, and Najib Mohammed.
Speaking to journalists, Baba Jamal emphasized the gesture was purely charitable.
“I was just gifting the delegates and did not expect it to influence them in any way,” he said, seeking to clarify the intention behind the distribution.
