The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested controversial relationship counsellor, Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt, over comments he allegedly made in a viral video that police say could incite public disorder.

According to the police, the arrest follows remarks attributed to the counsellor in connection with issues surrounding the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.
Authorities say the comments were allegedly directed at some youth, urging them to storm the residence of the deceased musician.
In a statement issued and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigations Department, investigators indicated that the remarks are considered offensive and potentially capable of causing a breach of the peace.
“Police investigations indicate that the suspect made some comments in relation to issues surrounding the late musician which are considered offensive and capable of causing a breach of the peace,” the statement noted.
Counsellor Lutterodt has since been granted bail following his arrest. However, he is expected to appear before court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
He is set to face charges of offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), as well as inciting violence under the Criminal Offences Act and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
The police say further investigations are ongoing as the matter proceeds to court.
