The Accra Regional Police Command has secured a High Court order prohibiting all outdoor and public celebrations for the remainder of this year’s Teshie Homowo festival, following violent clashes that claimed two lives and left several others injured.

The order, dated August 29, 2025, specifically restrains the holding of any public events connected with the festival, except traditional rites, on Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31.
In a statement, the Police said the measure was necessary to preserve public order after the recent disturbances escalated into what it described as a serious breach of the peace.
“The public, particularly the two factions involved, is strongly urged to comply with the court directive. Any breach of this order will attract swift enforcement action, including arrests and prosecution,” the statement warned.
The move underscores heightened security concerns around the annual festival, which has been marred in recent years by tensions between rival groups in the Teshie community.
