According to Mr. Ankrah, the publication preceding the viral video is a “mischievous” fresh tale issued by the NPP’s spokesman.

In a sword-wielding video that has gone popular on social media, Mr. Ankrah and other NDC leaders are shown swearing an oath. They vowed fealty to the party and promised to safeguard it at any cost.
Mr. Afriyie Ankrah stressed that the film had nothing to do with the party’s present officials in charge of the approaching 2024 general elections, and he advised the people to disregard it.
“The said video has nothing to do with our national executives and our party officials in charge of managing the upcoming 2024 general elections. I therefore urge the public to ignore the fake news,” Mr. Ankrah said in a statement yesterday [January 18].
“For the records, the said ceremony was arranged at my own behest ahead of the past general elections of 2020 when I was the Director of Elections of our party. It is yet another example of how seriously I took my role and how committed I was to ensuring that we did our work with utmost integrity in the interest of our party and its members and supporters,” the statement added.
He thus urged on party members to be calm and unify behind the leadership to guarantee that the NDC is elected into government on December 7th.
“I also call on our members and supporters to rally behind our party officials and support our national officers in our quest to win the next elections and deliver the people of Ghana from the hardships and mis governance of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government,” he stated.
