Evalue Ajomoro Gwira MP, MCE honours 28 teachers at maiden awards ceremony

The Member of Parliament for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira, Hon. Kofi Arkoe Nokoe, together with the Municipal Chief Executive for Nzema East, Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson, has honoured 28 teachers as part of the constituency’s maiden Teachers Awards Ceremony held in Axim.

The event, fully facilitated and sponsored by the MP and the MCE, was organised to appreciate and motivate both active and retired teachers for their dedicated service to the municipality.
Items presented to awardees included four motorbikes for teachers serving in remote communities, 13 double-decker fridges, six tabletop fridges, and five deep freezers.

Six retired teachers also received citations and GH¢2,000 each in recognition of their long service.

Mr. Stephen Mensah of Kwame Nkrumah Senior High School was named Overall Best Teacher, receiving GH¢10,000 and additional items. Mr. Francis Anyan Mensah emerged first runner-up, receiving GH¢7,500, while Ms. Monica Turkson took the second runner-up position with a GH¢5,000 award.

Speaking at a durbar attended by chiefs, clergy, teachers, students, and assembly members at Axim Victoria Park on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Hon. Arkoe Nokoe said the awards were meant to “empower all teachers who have dedicated their lives and time to serve in the municipality.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening educational development in the constituency, saying,
“My office, through the partnership of the MCE, will ensure that our area receives the best basic amenities that would improve ourselves.”

The MP also praised the strong collaborative relationship between his office, the MCE, and other stakeholders, noting that such unity is essential for advancing the area’s development agenda.

The Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional Area, HRM Awulae Attibrukusu III, commended both leaders for their dedication. He urged teachers to uphold professionalism and integrity in their work.

“We, the traditional leaders, will continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the working conditions of all workers, especially our teachers,” the Omanhene stated.

Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Herbert Kuah Dickson thanked participants for their support and pledged continued cooperation with the MP to lobby for more developmental projects. He assured the public of his commitment to securing the best outcomes for the municipality.

The ceremony also honoured outstanding educators across various categories, including preschool, primary, JHS, SHS, technical and vocational training, languages, non-teaching staff, STEM, education administration, and special dedication awards from the MP’s office.
