A horrific crash at dawn on Monday has claimed the lives of three people and left two others injured at Akyem Asafo on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the incident involved three heavy-duty vehicles. A DAF trailer loaded with cocoa, bearing registration number 6294-11, reportedly broke down and was left unattended in the middle of the road.
Tragically, two other trucks—a Scania truck with registration GS 6429-11 and a Howo tipper truck (registration yet to be confirmed)—crashed into the stationary trailer while travelling toward Accra.
The impact of the collision killed the Scania driver and two women on board, believed to be market traders, instantly.
Emergency response teams from the Ghana National Fire Service (Bunso Command), Suhum Police MTTD, and the Ghana Ambulance Service rushed to the scene to assist.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital morgue, while the injured are receiving treatment at the same facility.
Police from the Suhum MTTD have commenced investigations to determine what led to the fatal crash.
