It is still unknown what triggered the forced landing.

According to a resident, the helicopter circled above the area for a while looking for a good spot for an emergency landing before losing control and colliding with surrounding trees.
The aeroplane was located around 20 metres from the Bonsukrom road.
Amateur footage captures a side view of the helicopter stranded in the plants.
The military claimed in a statement that the helicopter carried 21 people, including Ghana National Gas Company employees and personnel.
It was said that they were “Conducting routine offshore powerline inspection of the Atuabo Gas plant when the incident occurred.”
Another eyewitness reported that some of them suffered minor injuries, but no deaths had occurred.
He said “We were on our way back from Dixcove when we heard a loud ‘boom’ sound.”
According to reports, this incident drew a large gathering of residents to the spot.
However, security forces attempted to keep the mob at bay while passengers were transported to the hospital for treatment.
One of the injured is being sent to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for emergency medical care.
Brig. Gen. Aggrey-Quashie, Director of Public Relations, stated that “preliminary assessments have commenced to ascertain the cause of the incident.”
