Ghana’s 24-Hour Economy policy gets boost with authority bill signing

In his 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Friday, President John Dramani Mahama stated that the  24-Hour Economy Policy has taken a significant step forward with the signing of the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill into law.

This policy aims to boost industrial productivity, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth by allowing businesses to operate beyond traditional hours.

The bill establishes a 24-Hour Economy Authority to oversee implementation, provide incentives, and address regulatory needs. Key aspects of the policy include increased productivity, job creation, and economic growth.

The government has outlined three main anchors for the policy: Production Transformation, Supply Chain and Market Efficiency, and Human Capital Development. The policy is expected to promote local manufacturing, value addition, and exports.
