The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has revealed that since the inception of Green Ghana Day in 2021, an impressive 42 million trees have been planted nationwide.

This initiative, aimed at promoting a greener environment, has gained significant traction, with plans to add millions more trees this year.

The upcoming Green Ghana Day, scheduled for June 7, aims to plant an additional 10 million trees, demonstrating a continued commitment to environmental sustainability.
During the launch event for the 2024 Green Ghana Day in Tamale on Tuesday, April 16, Minister Jinapor emphasized the importance of collective action in ensuring the success of the initiative, urging all citizens to participate actively.
Minister Jinapor expressed his satisfaction with the progress, stating,“I am happy and proud to report that in the last three years of its implementation, some 42 million trees have been planted across the country in both on and off reserves, consistently exceeding our targets every year. And these have been verified by independent audit.”
He extended gratitude on behalf of the President of the Republic to all Ghanaians and residents for their support in achieving this milestone. The commitment to environmental conservation remains a top priority for the government, with efforts aimed at ensuring a sustainable and green future for Ghana.
