Greenville Housing Programme: 20 two-bedroom affordable homes coming to each district – Works and Housing Minister

Minister for Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has revealed a pilot phase of the Greenville District Housing Programme, aimed at expanding access to affordable housing for low- and middle-income earners nationwide.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Gilbert Adjei said the programme is a district-level initiative aligned with the government’s decentralisation agenda and broader housing policy objectives.

“In its pilot phase, the programme has commenced in eight districts, South Dayi, Asuogyaman, Akyemansa, Ajumako Enyan Essiam, Atwima Kwanwoma, Dormaa West, Bole, and Tamale, and the projects are at various stages of completion,” he said.

The Minister explained that a hybrid construction approach combining compressed earth bricks and sandcrete blocks would be adopted to promote sustainability, cost-efficiency, and structural resilience.

Gilbert Adjei further disclosed that the official launch of the programme is expected in the coming weeks, describing it as a major milestone in decentralising housing delivery and advancing social equity nationwide.

“This programme represents an important step in improving living standards and advancing inclusivity across the country,” he added.
